Mid-Year Reports for College Apps
Details about Mid-Year Reports for senior's college applications below ...
What information is included on the Mid-Year Report?
- Your updated transcript
- A standard form completed by your counselor.
Your updated transcript will include your marking period 1 & 2 grades. It does not include your mid-term exam grades. The updated transcript also includes your final grade for half-year courses (TOK, LEAP, Adv. Experimental Design, etc.). Additionally, the Mid-Year Report Form asks for your updated GPA. Your updated GPA includes all completed classes through junior year + the half-year classes you completed as a senior. Your current grade in full-year senior classes are NOT factored into your updated GPA.
When will Mid-Year Reports be sent?
All Mid-Year Reports will be sent by Friday, February 12th.
Do I need to submit a request for you to send my Mid-Year Reports?
No, there is nothing for you to do. Your Mid-Year Report will be sent to all of the colleges listed on your "College's I'm Applying To" page in Naviance. The Office Status will be updated as "Mid-Year Submitted."
Why are Mid-Year Reports important?
- For schools that you've already been accepted to - they are looking to make sure that your strong academic performance has continued in your senior year. College acceptances are contingent upon successful completion of your senior year. Through the Mid-Year Report, colleges are assessing if you've developed a case of "Senioritis."
- For schools that you haven't received a decision from or were deferred/wait listed from - showing growth in your academic performance from the end of your junior year has the potential to tip the admission scales in your favor. The Mid-Year Report is also a "marketing opportunity" for you. From the time you submitted your application, are there any new achievements to highlight? This can include awards, scholarships, improved SAT scores or starting a new job. Contact your counselor to discuss any new achievements that could potentially be included in your Mid-Year Report.
